Many years ago, at the July 1968 club meeting, a question of changing the club callsing from W6OTX to something shorter was brought up, and that is when the club was reminded of the history of its callsign.
I’ll repeat it here, becuase it is an important memory of Wilbur Lauridson, the original holder.

I’ve recently been going through the dusty, musky archives that have been retrieved from the non-weatherproof PAARA trailer. I have discovered when PAARA and the Menlo Park CD Radio Club were joined at the hip (March, 1970), and when the first PAARA picnic was (1979 in Huddart Park).
More details, and perhaps some pictures, will emerge as I continue this historical research.

PAARA member Sister Tony, KG6RVS passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at the Mission San Jose, Dominican Nuns.
Services to be held on Monday, January 24, 2005 at 17:00 (5pm), with a viewing at 16:00 (4pm) at The Holy Family Sisters Chapel, 159 Washington, 510-657-2468. Driving directions.
According to K6WX, 880 may be congested at that time of day so one might want to take Mowry or Stevenson to Mission Blvd and then head south to Bryant. A Mapquest map is also available.

Les Vickery, W6AKR, passed away on Christmas Day, December 25/04. He was a long time PAARA member who lived a rather exciting life as a radio operator with Pan Am Airways. The family is planning a graveside service for Friday, January 7/05 at 1300 hrs at the Sky Lawn Memorial Park, located at the top of the hill on highway 92.
A memorial service will be held sometime later and his daughter Lee Ann at 408-529-6081 will advise us of the details.

David K. Rogers passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, November 8th. He had come down with viral menengitis on October 18th, but had appeared to be on the mend.

AT&T is constructing a BPL test in a Menlo Park neighborhood, serving about 300 homes. To track this threat to ham radio, there is a new section of the PAARA web site that will cover BPL.
